Electromagnetic Actuator / Solenoid / Coil

Electromagnets are highly responsive and enable the creation of small, fast percussive mechanisms, controllable via Transistor boards or the Balcon Raspberry Pi board.

The force of their movement can be adjusted in two ways:

• By pulse duration: For example, if the electromagnet is powered for 10 milliseconds, its stroke will be shorter and its impact lighter than if powered for 200 milliseconds.
• By supply voltage: The higher the voltage (up to 12V), the stronger the movement.

Practical Accessories

This actuator features a pre-equipped rod with a return spring for automatic retraction when released and a stopper on the other end to prevent the rod from ejecting at the end of its movement. The rod has a notch and a hole for easy integration into a mechanical system.

In a direct motion, it can pull a suspended weight of 150 grams or 200 grams when placed flat on a smooth surface. However, it is most commonly used in mechanisms where it pivots an element around an axis, like a percussive striker.

Warning: This actuator tends to heat up when continuously activated or left engaged for long durations.
