Analog sensors into Midi
This interface board can receive 2 simple analog sensors (with 3 way connections) of any kind. With its 2 inputs it can also receive the signal of a sensor with 2 outputs such as our «2 axis accelerometer».
The connectors are equipped with a fitting slab that slightly locks, preventing the sensors from being unplugged by accident.
Example : two light intensity sensors.
The « 2 Analog inputs to Midi » uses a standard Midi protocol and sends Control Change messages on the Midi channel 1. With this configuration, it works the same way as our other analog to midi interface boards such as our " 1 analog input " board or our "12 analog/16 digital inputs to Midi " boards in 7 bit mode.
This board uses Control Change numbers 0 and 1.
2 - Direction and speed measurement mode
This option is currently disabled, as it can only be applied to specific sensors.
Some older models of 2 analog input interfaces have a switch which allows you to switch from analog mode to this mode. It is recommended to NOT TOGGLE the switch when using conventional analog sensors.
The position of the switch for analog mode is tilted away from the two sensor connectors. It can be replaced by a jumper between the two outermost pins of the switch.
Application Examples
For an installation or performance requiring very few sensors, this small, inexpensive interface is easy to conceal and to install. Two directional LDRs can be used to create a virtual harp, two proximity sensors can monitor the surroundings of an installation, a two-axis inclinometer can be fitted to a seat, two areas of a sensitive carpet allow's for a simple way of localizing people...
Compatibility and control
This interface is compatible with any computer or system that has a Midi port, and a program able to communicate in Midi, such as : PMax/MSP, Pure-Data, Usine, Director (with a plug-in), Isadora, Eyesweb, Arkaos, VVVV, Max for Live, etc...
With the right connectors, this module is compatible with sensors from other suppliers.
Connections and mounting
- Midi OUT connector (DIN)
- 2 analog sensor inputs with a 3 pin white connector
- Power supply domino header
- 4 screw-holes, on the corners of the board
